How we work

 

Subir al Sur promotes youth participation and intercultural education by organizing short- term and long- term solidarity projects with the participation of young volunteers from Argentina and the world. The short- term projects are the “Intercultural Encounters for Cooperation” (or workcamps as they are commonly known) with the participation of volunteers from Argentina and our entire world. The long- term voluntary projects can be at the volunteers expense or as part of European Voluntary Service projects (EVS)- financed from The European Youth Program. Practice of cooperation, youth mobilization and peace education are the core of our pedagogical strategies.

We are inspired through our experience of the youth participation in Argentina together with the spirit of international voluntary service in the World according to the practice of our international partners which make part of networks such as CCIVS- UNESCO, ICYE, SCI, UNOY and the Alliance.

The two principal programmes of Subir al Sur son:

En Argentina!:

We receive volunteers from the rest of the World and Argentina to participate in our workcamps, mid and long term volunteering projects and European Voluntary Service which we organize together with our local partners in Argentina.

To develop this program Subir al Sur team works closely with our partners throughout the year to organize the following activities

  • Local workshops to increase the youth groups skills in relation to organizing social- intercultural solidarity projects: budget making, planning, press campaigns, etc. Workshops on dialogue, intercultural understanding and political- cultural issues in relation to each particular project.
  • Follow up visits to our partners to support them in the preparation of the projects: participatory selection of the project, building up contacts with governments and local companies.
  • Training of new intercultural facilitators, Subir al Sur staff coordinating the intercultural encounters together with the youth groups.
  • Constant on- line communication with our international partners to give visibility and promote our projects in Argentina.
  • Fundraising activities.

Al Mundo!:

We send Argentine volunteers to workcamps, mid term and long term volunteering in the rest of the World (Europe, Asia, Africa and America) and European voluntary service in Europe. We invite you to learn more about what are workcamps in our document.Frequent Questions.
To develop this program Subir al Sur undertakes the following activities::

  • 1.Campaigning on international voluntary service: on- line campaign, press, information meetings, workshops with universities and schools
  • 1.Logistical arrangements to make possible the exchange

Seminars and exchanges:

Through the network of our international partners and according to the objectives of Subir al Sur each year we support and participate in seminars and exchanges specialized in distinct educational and social themes.
